Cherries In Red Wine
Ingredients
- Sweet cherries - 1 pound
- Water - 1 cup
- Brown sugar - ½ cup
- Red wine - 1 cup
- Lemon zest - 2 tsp
Method
Wash the cherries and dry them. Remove the stems and pit the cherries.
In a saucepan simmer the brown sugar along with water. Then to it add red wine and lemon zest. Cook for 3 minutes over medium heat, stir occasionally.
Add the cherries to the mixture and cook for 2 minutes. Remove from the flame and allow the mixture to cool at the room temperature. Once the mixture has cooled refrigerate it.
NOTE: By refrigerating the mixture the flavors will have time to develop and bend.
