Date Wine


  • Dates - 3lb
  • Sugar - 1 1/2 lb
  • Strong black tea - 1/2 pint
  • Lemon - 4
  • Yeast nutrient
  • Wine yeast
  • Water - 1 gallon

Preparation Method

Chop the dates and add sugar to it in a vessel

Then add water to the mixture and boil for 30 minutes

Pour the mixture in a fermentation vessel

When the liquid cools add lemon juice, strong tea, yeast nutrient and wine yeast

Cover the mixture and allow them to ferment for two days, stirring daily.

Strain into a demijohn and fit an airlock to seal the jar.

Store in a warm place and allow the fermentation to work.

When fermentation has ceased, rack the wine into a clean jar and place in a cooler environment and leave.

When the wine is clear and stable siphon into bottles.
